Protest raids increased
The Immigrant World Ecuadorian Chamber reported that agents of the U.S. Immigration raids have increased the illegal aliens on buses that provide service from New York and New Jersey to other states.
Fabian Romo management of the institution, said that in the last week, Greyhound buses and Amtrak trains are the most used by immigrants, increased raids and arrests for the purpose of deportation. On Friday
community organizations staged a protest against the two companies who are accused of failing to warn passengers of surprise raids. Carrying signs
activists focused on Pennsylvania Station on 33rd Street and Eighth Avenue and marched up Eighth Avenue and 42nd Street (Times Square station) to express their rejection of the conduct of both carriers.
Romo said that for now not safe for any person without travel documents Greyhound and Amtrack.
"you should know that if you travel by Greyhound or Amtrak runs the risk of being checked by immigration agents. Amtrak and Greyhound are enriched with money from immigrants and send them to deportation, "said Maria Muentes, Family Association for Freedom, organized the march.
Muentes said that immigration officers and Border Patrol routinely conducted raids on travel to Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and other cities in upstate New York.
Amy Gottlieb, American Friends Service of Newark, advised that before buying a ticket in any company ask what type of identification is required for safe travel.
"However, it remains a risk that the person making it is not exempt from the stop on a road," said Gottlieb.
This is not a new practice, since for about three years, both Amtrak and Greyhound agreed to cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security to allow random inspections on their buses and trains.
two weeks ago were sporadic raids but suddenly got worse creating anxiety among immigrants, despite the promise of Barack Obama's campaign that his administration would stop raids
Both companies, as they say groups fighting for civil rights, have refused to discuss the issue.
There are no statistics on how many immigrants have been caught every day with this technique. Order
leaders and community activists and representatives of immigrant advocacy groups will ask the U.S. President an executive order to end the raids. Claims
U.S. citizens have also been victims of the raids and so are processing claims against the Immigration Police.
